Well, Elliott, date night is when Mommy and Daddy actually go somewhere fun without you. (I know, it seems totally crazy to us too.) But we had tickets to see The Dave Matthews Band last night and didn't think you'd enjoy that. It was an incredible concert, and we were so excited to go. You know who was more excited than we were? Hundreds of stoned college students. And their pot dealers. And the owners of stores selling beach balls and Funyons.
Wait, I guess we need to hold off a couple of years to talk about that. But I want to be preemptive and tell you that drugs are bad. They make people look really stupid. Which can be very amusing for elderly folks like Mommy and Daddy. But anyhoo.

Very funny, Bowlby. Everybody knows how cheap I am...if the beer was going for a RIDICULOUS $9.50, I can only imagine the price tag on the more illicit stuff! (And with that sentence, I am officially old.)

Anyway, I'm sure there was plenty of excess to inhale. At least that's what happened at the free Widespread Panic concert in downtown Athens, 1997.
