Write it down, people!

So Elliott looks like a pretty big boy here, right? He should. Because today he went all day with dry underpants! As in, he woke up with a clean diaper and didn't have any accidents during the day. He has had a few dry weekend days before, but only when we were home all day (and constantly harping on him to go to the potty).
But today was a busy day. He went on a hike around Oak Mountain with Luke and his parents, visited the petting farm, ate lunch out, took a nap, and then played outside some more. (Y'all understand that all this activity was done in the same DRY underpants, right? Got it?)
I'm so proud. Parenting success. As long as he doesn't pee on the sofa tomorrow. Again.

Deep Thoughts with Elliott

Now that Elliott's imagination is really taking off and his vocabulary is growing every day, our conversations have become interesting. Here's one from a few weeks ago when I was putting him to bed.

Elliott: There's a spaceship out there!

Mommy: Where?

Elliott: Outside the window!

Mommy: Wow! What's it doing out there?

Elliott: (pause) Eating a snack.

Mommy: Oh, I see. What kind of snack?

Elliott: A doggie snack!

Mommy: Of course.

After a recent exchange he had with our dog, Daisy, I'm pretty sure I should have been insulted.

Daisy: (whine, roll over on her back, whine)

Elliott: (pats her belly) It's OK, Daisy. Don't be scared.

Daisy: whine, whine

Elliott: It's OK, Daisy. It's not a monster. It's just Mommy.

Stuff I forgot to tell y'all about

The school Christmas play: There's my little piglet second from the left (right above that guy's head). He showed a lot of charisma on stage, if I do say so myself.
Afterward, he met up with Jack and Jay to get a closer look at some of the props.

Trip to see ICE! and SNOW! in Nashville: Elliott and I joined up with Mawmaw, Aunt Barbara, and Breanna for a day trip to Nashville during the break. ICE! was nice but a little too cold for the youngest member of our group. He got crabby in a ridiculously short period of time in that attraction; however, he did like the ice slide!

The SNOW! part was a different story. I thought that manmade snow might have lost a little appeal considering we got a ton of the real stuff at Christmas, but I was wrong. He and Breanna could have stayed there all day.

To Infinity and Beyond!

Lucky for us, Elliott is a big Buzz Lightyear fan and Josh prefers Woody. So there were no duplicate Christmas pajamas.

Please vote for Elliott!

Eric's photo of Elliott in front of our Christmas tree made the Top 10 on AL.com's Home for the Holidays photo contest. Not bad for a straight-out-of-the-camera, un-Photoshopped shot, huh?! Vote early and vote often. We could use that prize money now that we're a one-income household! :)

Elliott's resolutions for 2011

1. Eat lots of leafy greens, even when there is Chex Mix readily available.

2. Always practice safety first when at play.

3. Get plenty of beauty sleep every night.
