The Graduate

Friday was graduation day for cousin Nolen. Soon he's off to play football at UAB. Congratulations, Nolen!

PS--Elliott didn't get all the hoopla, but at least he was quiet.

Up in the Air

On this beautiful, summer-like Saturday, we went to a hot-air balloon race in Tuscaloosa.

There was a bit of a delay. Elliott was starting to think we tricked him.

Snow cones always make the time pass more quickly.

And then the balloons showed up! And there were a lot of them.

The piece de resistance: Energizer Bunny. This is allegedly the largest hot-air balloon in the world. However, I have not independently verified that so don't take it as the gospel.
We had a wonderful afternoon. Elliott was up WAY past bedtime, but it was worth every minute.

He's still a good boy

But Elliott has been spending some time in the corner lately. Is it working? Who knows...but at least the corners are kept clear of cobwebs.

Breanna is 6!

She seemed to have a good time at her birthday party...Elliott had lots of fun. (However, Elliott's mom finds it disturbing that her baby doesn't look much smaller than the 6-year-old in this picture.)

Better than penicillin

Mommy made chocolate cobbler for me tonight. It'll cure whatever ails you.

See? Better already!

Outlook: Spotty

Elliott has a "viral rash" on his face and looks all blotchy. Doc thinks it's probably caused by the same virus that causes hand, foot, and mouth disease. (Which definitely needs a new name. It doesn't sound like something city kids should get.) He feels OK and gets a couple of free days off school. Not a bad deal for him, I guess.

PS--He weighed 31 lbs., 7 oz. at the doctor. I knew I wasn't just imagining that he gets heavier every day!

Toddler TV

Elliott experienced Yo Gabba Gabba for the first time on this soggy Monday afternoon. I hope we don't someday look back on this as the beginning of his problem with psychedelics.

Above average, as always

Elliott's 2-year-old appointment went well. He jumped on command, told the doc his age, and was generally impressive in every way. (Height: 35 inches--90% percentile; Weight: 31 lbs, 1 oz.--90% percentile; Super-cuteness: 100% percentile)
