Success as sweet as candy

Elliott was honored to be asked to lead his class in the fall parade at school yesterday. (He served as an unofficial mascot for the Sunshine class.) And we were so relieved that he warmed up to his costume. It's taken some abuse but managed to hold together!

Heinous Halloween behavior (UPDATED!!!)

Just thought I'd post a picture of Elliott's costume before it gets annihilated. This is probably the closest we will get to him actually wearing it. We tried it on him today, and the meltdown was epic. Let me rephrase that: THE MELTDOWN WAS EPIC, LEGENDARY, AND COMPLETELY UNPRECEDENTED! The sunshine got a little damaged, but I was able to glue it back. You can tell his real feelings by the way he won't even look at the costume!

UPDATE: We put the costume back on Elliott this morning in an attempt to desensitize him. Although he still wasn't super-happy about wearing it, he didn't pitch a screaming, pea soup-spitting fit this time. I consider that progress.

The Halloween costume that shanked it

I ordered this golfer costume for Elliott, and it finally arrived about a week ago. Cute, huh? Too bad when it arrived it was a badly sized piece o' crap. So now I've resorted to making a Halloween costume from scratch. When you see him at Halloween, be sure to repeat after me: "My goodness, Marilyn, that costume certainly is lovely, creative, and so well-crafted!" His costume will actually be none of those things, but how 'bout y'all humor me a little, okay?

More fun than should be had! By anyone! Ever!

Today was Elliott's friend Jay's 2nd birthday party. Jack and Luke were there too. Jay likes trains so the party was at the railroad museum. We rode a real train out to a pumpkin patch where the kids got to pick a pumpkin, bounce in a bounce house (Elliott's first time), and jump in a hay pit. In spite of the fact that we rode in an OPEN TRAIN CAR AND IT WAS REALLY FREAKIN' COLD, Elliott had a blast and slept more than 3 hours when we got home.
At least Elliott and Jack think I'm funny.

Justin and Luke traded hats.

The hay jump was such a big hit, I think we'll just get Elliott a couple of bales for Christmas.

Aldridge Botanical Gardens

Today we spent a few hours at Aldridge Botanical Gardens in Hoover.
They have a really neat scarecrow exhibit this month.

Elliott loves the bunny sculptures.

Happy Birthday, Granna!

Pumpkin mania

We went to the pumpkin patch in Hayden today. Oh, too many choices!

Elliott and I were getting swarmed by bugs!

Goofing off around the house

I am lord and ruler of this whole driveway now that I've found this magic wand.

No WAY, Daddy!

Don't say my shirt didn't warn you.
